On March 22, 2024, the Indonesian National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) paid a second visit to PT Niramas Utama (INACO), a leading nata de coco producer in Indonesia. The visit marked a significant milestone in the strengthening of the partnership between the two, with a shared vision for sustainable innovation and industry growth.

BRIN's initial visit to INACO laid the groundwork for this productive follow-up. The first encounter saw a dynamic focus group discussion where ideas flowed freely. Green initiatives at INACO, the exciting potential of value-added nata de coco products, and the innovative concept of converting waste into valuable fertilizer were just some of the topics explored. This initial exchange paved the way for the specific areas of collaboration that were further solidified during the second visit.

Continuing our initial collaboration, BRIN and INACO are set to embark on a new research project focused on developing innovative nata de coco-based products. This joint effort aims to unlock the full potential of nata de coco, exploring its application in a lot of variant.

INACO is also committed to achieving sustainable development goals and is currently preparing for an Initial Public Offering (IPO). As part of this process, INACO recognizes the importance of sustainability reporting and has sought BRIN's expertise in this area. BRIN will provide guidance and support in developing a comprehensive sustainability report that aligns with international standards and best practices.

The partnership will also encompasses a groundbreaking initiative to transform wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) output into valuable resources. BRIN and INACO will collaborate on research and development to convert WWTP output into clean water for non-production and non-consumption domestic use, and to create fertilizers from wastewater sludge.

The upcoming partnership between BRIN and INACO showcases a strong commitment to innovation, sustainability, and industry growth. By combining our expertise and resources, we are poised to make significant strides in the development of new nata de coco products, sustainable manufacturing practices, and innovative wastewater treatment solutions to build a more sustainable future for Indonesia.
